Hello, my name is Arndt! I'm glad you've come across Hackboard. If you're interested, stick around and try it out! Maybe it's for you.
The keyboard is the most used tool in knowledge work, and I never thought about this until becoming a software engineer caused me to — late, at 31, but still pre-AI. Back then, the craft of typing carried even more weight than it still does today.
After discovering Karabiner-Elements in 2023, I spent hundreds of hours building a setup where any key can be a layer that helps you ergonomically trigger actions. It's a useful technique for working with your computer, and like any craft, it rewards practice. Once learned, the technique saves you time and energy and enriches your creative work.
As AI and dictation help more with text generation, I suspect the keyboard's role will shift — less typing, more action triggering. I didn't start Hackboard with that shift in mind, but the paradigm it offers seems to naturally fit where things are heading.
